How to Join APPA

Step-by-Step: Applying for APPA Membership

Ready to become part of the leading association in the pet products industry? The American Pet Products Association (APPA) currently offers memberships for pet product manufacturers and pet industry suppliers. Follow the simple steps below to start your application and gain access to exclusive industry resources, research, events, and more.


1. Create an Account in the APPA Portal

To begin the application process, visit the APPA Member Portal and create your account.

You will need to set up:

  • An Individual Account – This will be your personal login.

  • An Organization Account – This represents your business or company.

    • 💡 Note: You must complete both the individual and organization setup to access the membership application.

2. Access the Membership Application

Once your accounts are created, you’ll be able to access and begin completing the membership application from within the portal.

Make sure you select the correct membership type:

  • Manufacturer Membership – For companies that produce or import finished pet products.

  • Supplier Membership – For companies providing products or services to pet product manufacturers.

3. Prepare Required Business Documentation

As part of your application, you must upload at least two of the following documents to verify your business:

  • Invoice showing current business operations

  • Current business license

  • Articles of Incorporation or Partnership Agreement

  • First page of your most recent business tax return

  • Tax Identification Number (TIN) letter

  • Utility bill in the company’s name

  • Business banking statement

4. Submit Membership Dues

Membership dues are collected at the time of application and will automatically renew each calendar year. Be sure to keep your payment method up to date in the portal.

5. Await Approval

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the APPA membership team. You will be notified by email once your membership is approved and active.
